USGOS BREED STANDARD

HEAD & NECK

Head should be medium length. Nose should be slightly dished. Ears should be well set apart, dropping forward toward the nose and not the sides - and not longer than the nose. Neck should be a medium length with a proportional jowl not over pronounced.

LEGS

Legs should be straight and strong, with a proper angle in pasterns (ideally 45 degrees). Toes should be facing forward. 

OBJECTIONS

Objections include short and thick ears, heavy jowl, coarse bristle hair, crooked legs, serious wrinkles in the skin, lack of at least one black spot or more than 75% black spotting.

BODY

Shoulders should be fine but not raised. Back should be long and level with no drop past the shoulders. Ribs should be deep and well sprung with a broad loin. Sides should be deep. Belly and flank should be full and thick, with a straight bottom line.

SKIN AND COAT

Skin should not show coarseness or wrinkles. Coat should be silky and straight. No less than one spot of black skin with black hair, and black should not predominate (i.e. not more than 75%).

QUARTERS & HAMS

Quarters should be long and wide with a thick tail well set up.  Hams should be large and filled to the hocks.

UNDERLINE

Underline should be straight with a minimum of 14 well defined and spaced functional teats.
